Souvenir from Curacao
There are so many things one can bring back from their holidays in Curacao. Yet, some gifts perfectly tell the story of the place visited and this is the case with Curacao. I believe a "chi-chi" (pronounced tchi-tchi) and a curacao liquor bottle are must-have souvenirs.
1. Chi-Chi

The Chichi are colourful and voluptuous (thiiiiick) statue of an island woman, is the ultimate souvenir. Chichi is a Papiamentu word that means big sister and represents her role as "the glue that holds the family together". It also represents a native Caribbean woman who is smart, strong, caring, happy and a kind and welcoming soul. Their thickness has for long been controversial on the island but Serena Israel, chichi creator, insisted that it is nothing demeaning but only demonstrates the warmth of the island.
You can get them at several locations or paint your own at Serena’s Art Factory, owned by Chichi creator.
Painting your own is a good idea since a chichi is made to remind you of a woman in your circle for whom you have high esteem.
2. Curacao Liquor

This gift has a party and historical tie attached to it. Indeed, back when Spanish had control over the island, they were quick to give it up because saw no potential there. The landscape was more savanna-dry than tropical-moist, and little would grow there, apart from small, bitter oranges. However, their peels happened to give the blue Curacao liqueur its ambrosial fragrance now widely used in cocktails around the world.
What better place than Curacao to get this?
